By the end of this guide you'll know how to issue a capital call against positions that already have uncalled commitment, choose how the call amount is calculated across investors, and track each call through the Capital Call drawer from Not Called to Invested.
Note
Issuing and tracking capital calls is a GP task. You need access to your firm's workspace and to the holding you're calling for. This guide covers the Capital call fundraise type, which calls capital against existing positions rather than building a new pipeline; see Create a fundraise if you haven't set one up yet.
Start a capital call
Choose the Capital call option when starting a new fundraise on a holding. The fundraise type is set for you, so you go straight to naming the call and choosing which positions it applies to.
- Give the call a Call Name.
- Optionally narrow which positions are eligible using Call From — choose All Commitments (the default) to consider every position with uncalled commitment on the holding, or a specific earlier fundraise to call only positions raised through it.
- Optionally narrow further with the Share Classes filter — leave All selected, or choose one or more classes to exclude positions in the others.
- Only positions with uncalled commitment appear in the positions table; each row shows the investor entity, share class, and current uncalled amount.
