- Does publishing a report automatically email my investors?
- No. When you publish you choose between Publish Only, which makes the report available in the investor portal without an email, and Publish & Notify Investors, which publishes the report and opens an email you can review and send. Choose Publish Only if you don't want to notify anyone.
- How do I check what the report will look like to my investors before I publish?
- Use the LP view panel in Report Studio. It renders the report as the addressed investor reads it — your branded masthead, the report narrative, and any attachments as the closing section — one recipient at a time. Use previous and next to move through the audience, or select the recipient's name to search the list and jump to a specific investor. The panel shows the report's saved content, so save your edits first; if it's behind your latest changes it tells you so. There's no separate preview page to open.
- Can I read the report at full width without leaving Report Studio?
- Yes. Use the expand control on the LP view panel and the same document opens at full width in a drawer inside Report Studio. When you close the drawer your editor content, scroll position, and selected section are unchanged, so you can go straight back to editing.
- The panel says no one is attached to receive a recipient's report. What do I do?
- That recipient's investing entity has no contact attached to it, so there is no one to send the report to. Attach a contact with an email address to the investing entity, then come back to the panel. The recipient is still counted in the audience and their document still renders, so nothing is hidden from you — the notice is there so you catch it before you publish rather than afterwards.
- Does the panel tell me whether an investor has ever logged in to the portal?
- No. The LP view panel reports whether a recipient can be reached at all — whether someone is attached to the investing entity and has an email address on file. A recipient who meets that bar is never flagged, even if nobody there has signed up for the portal or logged in yet.
- Why does the LP view show fewer recipients than the report has positions?
- Because recipients are counted as partners rather than subscriptions. An investing entity holding several positions in the report is one recipient reading one document that covers all of them, so the recipient count can be smaller than the number of positions. Where the two differ the panel states both, so you can reconcile them at a glance. No investor is left out.
- Has who receives the report changed?
- No. The audience is the same as before — investors with a position in the report's scope, reached through the investor portal. Counting recipients by investing entity changes how the LP view panel presents the audience while you review, not who the report goes to or who can open it in their portal.
- How do I find one specific investor in a long recipient list?
- Select the recipient's name in the LP view panel to open a searchable list of everyone the report addresses, then choose the investor you want — you don't have to step through the recipients in between. Searching narrows the open list only; previous and next still move through the whole audience in order.
- Where do I manage a report's attachments?
- From the Sections panel and the Editor while you build or edit the report. Attachments then appear to investors as the closing section of the report document. The LP view panel shows attachments as investors will read them but isn't where you add or remove them.
- Can I download a copy of the report myself?
- Yes. Use Download PDF in Report Studio. You get the same document the LP view panel is showing for the selected recipient — same sections, same period, same branding — with real selectable text. Downloading neither publishes the report nor notifies anyone.
- Who receives the notification email?
- Your investors who have a position in the report's scope. For a holding-wide report that's everyone with a position in the holding; for a share-class report it's everyone with a position in that share class. An investor with several positions in that scope receives one report rather than one per position. Any live email address on a contact qualifies — it doesn't have to be marked primary — but a contact with no email address on file won't receive it.
- Can I edit a report after I've published it?
- Not directly. A published report is read-only. Unpublish it to return it to a draft so you can edit it again — you'll be warned that investors lose access while it's a draft — then republish when you're ready.
- Can I customize the notification email before it goes out?
- Yes. The subject and body are pre-filled with the holding name, period, and a link to the report, and you can edit both and preview the email before sending it.
- What do investors see when a report is published?
- Investors with a position in the holding see the report in their investor portal, both on the holding's Reports tab and in their aggregated reports list. They open it as a branded document carrying your firm's masthead, read the report narrative on the page, open any attachments, and can download it as a PDF.
